Kowhai Trees

Kowhai Trees
The Kowhai Trees  are one of the famous trees in New Zealand and our unconfirmed  national flowers. They are known for their bright yellow flowers . Native birds like tui, bellbird , kaka , pigeons , kereru , kuku and kukupa are  advantages from kowhai trees .

Hares and Rabbits can damage young kowhai trees. In parts of the south island rabbits and hares prevent common recruitment . Kowhai trees also grow in Chile and Gough Island in the South Atlantic . Kowhai trees can be found in the lowland of New Zealand where open forests or along rivers . The Kowhai nectar is a favourite food to tui and kereru . The pods contain six or more seeds . If a Kowhai seed is yellow than that seed is healthy but if it’s brown then that seed is not healthy .
