Book Review 7 : Geronimo Stilton and the shipwreck on the islands

Geronimo and the shipwreck on the islands

It is when Geronimo Stilton goes on a journey and crashes in the middle of nowhere . He blames his sister Thea Stilton for convincing him to go on an adventure . But when they find out there's treasure on the island it becomes more exciting!!! What would they do to get out of this unknown island ? This should be suitable for 10 to 11 year olds because it is a beginning for 10 and 11 year olds to start reading thicker and more intermediate books .

Book Review 6 : Thea Stilton and the mountain of fire

Thea Stilton and the Mountain of fire
It is when one of the Thea Sister's are in trouble about family business , and they all travel to Australia but when they get there some of there pets were drugged with a dangerous medicine . So they travel around Australia to find a cure .  Can they find the cure in time? I believe that this book should be for 8 to 10 year olds because this book is not based on Non-Fiction and it is more acceptable for  younger children .

The Performance

The Performance
I am walking after my game until my coach asked me to come there. I thought she will kick me out of the netball team. By the look of her face her eyes were blue like the ocean waves. Her hair are brown like the color of my skin color. She had skin like caramel ice cream. I am there at Auckland at AMI for a tournament. The people over there are screaming like people that are fighting for their country. My Coach and I sat down and talked and she said that my performing are amazing and thinks I should be Captain. “I am so amazed” .I see other people looking at me .We started chatting.I was sitting down on the bench. The trees are like giants covering my view.

I am holding a netball ball practicing and talking. My Coach is getting goals like a professional shooter. I can smell the fresh windy air coming to my face.I can feel the rocky netball court I am standing on.I can see a rubbish collector that picking up popcorn .

He wears a demin jeans that is the colour blue grayish jeans that remind me of gnatcatchers. His shoes are black like my little brother’s hair. His skin is pale like the snowflakes coming down in  winter.

Boys Jumping off Sample Test

Boys jumping off
As I walk through the Waikato bridge , I feel the breeze on my face and the pollution through the gasy smoke. I see cars driving past me. I see two boys jumping off the bridge. They both look excited and overjoyed, I think of them as brave and fearless . I walk past them and watch them as they are playing . Then my eyes bloomed . I felt my hands shaking of fear . I think of the water as polluted. I feel disgusted . I smell the stink that remind me of socks .

My eyes were wider than an elephant .  The two boys are thinking how to paddle themselves to the raft. The two boys are feeling shocked and worried .  The first boy jumped to the raft and made it , he is trying to help the second boy . The second boy jumped and made it . I was shocked . Then the two boys ran and went somewhere else . The two boy’s action were amazing and fearless .Then I walked past the bridge and went .

My Sample Writing Test

A Moment in time
I am walking around the park. But then suddenly I hear this “Boom Boom”, I started to feel curious, So I followed it and it is  my grandpa. I wondered why is he at the beach?. I joined him at the beach. He said “He found seaweed”, and told me all about it.The seaweed is shaped like a string you could just break. Then my grandpa said “ Wait here and don’t look I have  something for you”.I closed my eyes in excitement, not taking one look.He says “Open your eyes now”.

I opened my eyes and I see a shaped ball with three eyes like a bowling ball.I am amazed. It is  a coconut!.He said “It is nice when you taste it with the sea”. I said “ What if the sea had bacteria?”. He had a full jug of seawater  and told me “ You are already eating it right now” he said. I said “ Wow you are right it does taste nice”.The coconut tasted like tropical juicy lemonade. I felt like I was a mermaid under the sea drinking coconut water.

I am staring at the red pink sunset going down. I start to feel this feeling where the only person that can understand me is my grandpa. Then we go home and our Moment of time is over.

Tiger Son

TIGER SON
What is the story about?
The story is about when a elderly widow has only one son and he is a tiger hunter like his father and his grandfather. But one day there was a snowstorm and her son was separated from the group of hunters and ended up being food to a hungry tigress . After her son died he was her only support . So instead the hunters  had to share profits . The hunters didn’t take the agreement well because they had to feed some of their own old and young. So after they killed the tigress that killed her son , they selfishly didn’t share the profits and gave in a tigress cub . She decided to keep the cub instead of killing it . She treated it like it was her own son . But when the hunters heard she was keeping a cub they got their spears ready and their knife but the old lady defended the cub . The hunters knew that they couldn’t kill the cub without the magistrate’s permission . The magistrate agreed with the elderly widow and warned all hunters not kill the tiger and put a copper pendant around his neck that says Fu Chee , it means tiger son . The elderly widow let the tiger have a cave nearby her house . Fu Chee visited her most of the time and gave her gifts like a dead deer , or a large branch to put in the fire to keep her warm. When Chen Ma died the hunters notice that the tiger guarded the grave nightly so they left the tiger in peace but one day the tiger disappeared .

What’s the Problem?
The problem in the story is when the hunters didn’t want to share profits so they gave a baby tiger but she was too old to kill the tiger so she kept it as her pet but when the hunter’s heard that she was keeping a cub they got their spears and knives ready  .

How can I resolve this ?
The magistrate said that one day the tiger will come against the old lady and kill her but the old lady didn’t agree to this because she treated the tiger differently than any other animal . So the magistrate gave an adoption letter to adopt the tiger .

The Blue Whale
We are learning to proofread and edit

The largest animals ever to been seen on earth are still living today !

The Blue Whale is much bigger than the largest dinosaurs , One Blue Whale measured 34 metres and weighed more than 220 tonnes .

Everything about the Blue Whale is big , even it’s tongue may weigh up to four tonnes , they also call to each other in big voices which can be heard over 800 kilometres away . They are easily the loudest living creatures .

Because they are mammals , blue whales breathe air , this means they must come up to the surface of the ocean to breath . A whale’s waterspout , doesn't blow water out at all . It is hot breathe and water vapour .

Having Lunch

Having Lunch

by: Tino

Outside sitting on the soft grass , eating lunch with my friends in the bursting heat of the sun. I see a fountain with a huge ball on top and see little kids are touching it. I feel the gentle breeze of the wind blowing towards  me as I look at Rangitoto island. I look beside and I see Ben jumping on the trampoline happily with much gusto. I laugh at Ben and talk to my friends . As I look at Ben I can see the sandy beach, so inviting that I feel like splashing in the wild waves. I imagine I’m on that beach swimming with joy in the cold freezing water.

As I eat my lunch I have the urge to go play with my friends on the fresh grass.  I see other kids sitting under the tree on the bench looking at the view and talking about the Mary Mackillop Centre. It is a nice feeling to be in this place.

One of the Josephite Sisters are giving out free juice and I ask for a juice and drink it . What a refreshing drink, I feel I need that. I have a second helping of the juice, totally that is good. Meanwhile another Josephite Sister and come up to me, she is collecting rubbish . I said thank you for collecting my rubbish and I went off to play. I have time to play with my friends tag and run around  on the green fresh grass at the backyard . I see a tree and a small shack and a good place to hide behind. I did just that to wait for my friends to approach me. I get my bag and get my partner on the bus and go back to school .

Te Tahawai Marae

Te Tahawai Marae
On a beautiful Monday Morning we went to Te Tahawai Marae for a visit . When I got out of the bus, I noticed a dead cat on the road and I was afraid to go near it . I went inside and saw there was Edgewater school near it . As we waited outside the Waharoa , We saw a girl and a boy acting silly outside . Then a lady named Brenda welcomed us inside the marae and we took of our shoes and entered . Then we started off with speeches . They spoke first, then we responded back  .Then we gave the koha . It wasn’t a donation it was a gift  . Then we sang . After we sang we did the hongi  and then washed our hands . We went into the wharekai  and ate biscuits and water . After that  we split into two groups the Year 7 and 8 girls went with the Year 6  boys . I went with the Year 5 and 6 girls . We learned about how sacred are Marae is and learned about the ancestors .  Then we learnt Te Tahawai Marae means  Edgewater  Marae  and they taught us that the marae isn’t just for Maori’s but it is for everyone . Then we drew the ancestors and mihi it . Then we went to do the other activity with Brenda . She taught us kowhaiwhai  all about koru’s .Then last of all Brenda gave us a poi each . She told us how to use it and not to hit each other . We spread out and did a song and dance with the poi . Finally we had to thank them and say goodbye . We put on our shoes and went back to school . I enjoyed  going to the Marae .

Sina and the eel legend

Sina and her eel

Long ago there was a girl named Sina. Tales of her beauty spread through the pacific islands. In Fiji the magical fijian chief heard about Sina  and wanted to win  Sina as his wife. He turned into a eel and traveled to Samoa in Savaii. When Sina was getting water for her Mum’s cooking she scooped up one, then two and then three. She noticed the eel and took the eel inside and put him in a jar full of water. She looked after the eel until was too big to fit in the jar so she put it in a spring. Sina looked after it in the spring until it was too big she put it in the village pool. The eel would always hide in a corner where it was safe and no one would notice, But when Sina would swim in the village pool it would come up and circle around her. Sina was afraid of the eel and moved to nearest villages but the eel would follow her.In Safune village pool she looked in her reflection and saw the eel she was frightened and cursed it and called it Mata ole aitu pool .

It means a demon’s eye in English. She was frightened and went into the chief’s fale and told her cousin and the chief that this eel was hunting her. Her cousin was sent to behead the eel . The eel was beheaded , before he died he said to Sina “ My beautiful Sina listen to my word in pity , fulfil my last wish . I am the Tuifiti from faraway Fiji , I came to win you as my wife . I have lost the art of magic making and therefore I am unable to change myself into a man , Sina before I die cut off my head and bury it in front of your fale . A tree will grow out that will be useful to you , Drink from these fruit , when you are thirsty , And you will be kissing me” . The poor heart broken eel died . Sina did what the eel said. The fruit had two eyes and one mouth , so every time Sina would get a fruit she will be in fact kissing the eel. That was the first coconut tree in Samoa. The two eyes and the mouth represent Sina’s eel .
